ಪರಿಚಯ

ವಿಕಿರಣ ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗ

ಪರಿಣಿತ ಬೋಧನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸೇವಾ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡುವ ಉತ್ತಮ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ವಿಕಿರಣ ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗವು ಕಿದ್ವಾಯಿ ಸ್ಮಾರಕ ಗಂಥಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯೇ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಸಜ್ಜಿತ ವಿಭಾಗವಾಗಿದೆ. ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ವಿವಿಧ ವಿಭಾಗಗಳಾದ ವಿಕಿರಣ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ, ನ್ಯೂಕ್ಲಿಯರ್ ಮೆಡಿಸಿನ್, ರೇಡಿಯೋ ಡಯಾಗ್ನೋಸಿಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ರೇಡಿಯೋ ಫಾರ್ಮ್ಯಾಕ್ಯುಟಿಕಲ್ಸ್ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ಕೇಂದ್ರ, ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ BRIT ಶಾಖೆ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಗಳಿಗೆ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ನೆರವನ್ನು ಈ ವಿಭಾಗವು ಒದಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ, ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ ನಡೆಸಲು ರಾಜೀವ್ ಗಾಂಧಿ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಗಳ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದಿಂದ ಮಾನ್ಯತೆ ಪಡೆದಿದೆ. ಇಡೀ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟವಾದುದು ಮತ್ತು ಮೊಟ್ಟಮೊದಲನೆಯದಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದೇ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿರುವ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಸವಾಲುಗಳುಳ್ಳ ವಿಷಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪಿ.ಎಚ್‌ಡಿ. ಪದವಿ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಿರುವ ವಿಕಿರಣ ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿನ ಎಂ.ಎಸ್‌ಸಿ. ಪದವಿ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ರಾಜೀವ್ ಗಾಂಧಿ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಗಳ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಯೋಜಿತವಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮುಂಬೈಯ ಅಟಾಮಿಕ್ ಎನರ್ಜಿ ರೆಗ್ಯುಲೇಟರಿ ಬೋರ್ಡ್ (ಎಇಆರ್‌ಬಿ) ಅನುಮೋದಿಸಿದೆ. ಎಂ.ಡಿ. (ರೇಡಿಯೊಥೆರಪಿ), ಡಿ.ಎಂ.ಆರ್‌.ಟಿ., ಎಂ.ಎಸ್ಸಿ. ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಪದವಿ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ವಿಭಾಗದ ತಜ್ಞ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ತರಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. (ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್), ಬಿ.ಎಸ್ಸಿ. ರೇಡಿಯೊಥೆರಪಿ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ರೇಡಿಯೋ-ಡಯಾಗ್ನೋಸಿಸ್ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. AERB ನಡೆಸುವ ರೇಡಿಯಾಲಜಿಕಲ್ ಸೇಫ್ಟಿ ಆಫೀಸರ್ (RSO) ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ತಮ್ಮ ಪಠ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಪೂರಕವಾಗಿ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷದ ಇಂಟರ್ನ್‌ಶಿಪ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಲು AERB ಅನುಮೋದನೆ ಪಡೆದಿರುವ ಕೇಂದ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಿದ್ವಾಯಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ನಮ್ಮ ವಿಭಾಗವೂ ಸಹ ಒಂದು.

Dr. K. M. Ganesh has Professional Experience of 23 years as Clinical Physicist in Radiotherapy under various capacities. He received his Ph.D.  in Medical Physics from Anna University in the year 2004 and Joined KMIO in the year 2003 as Assistant Professor of Radiation Physics.  Earlier he served as Lecturer in Radiation Physics for 5 years at M.S.Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore. He is a life member of various professional bodies like AMPI (Association of Medical Physicists of India), AROI (Association of Radiation Oncologists of India, ISRP (Indian Society for Radiation Physics), IARP (Indian Association of Radiation Protection), Bangalore Oncology Group and UICC (Union for International Cancer Control). He is the principal Investigator for the project of “Development and Testing of Indigenous Cost Effective 3D RFA” from AERB, Mumbai during the year 2011-2013. He also contributed as Co-Investigator in other two projects at KMIO. He has been awarded UICC fellowship at  Poomana Valley Hospital, Ontario, California during 2008. He has attended “College on Medical Physics”, at ICTP, Italy during the year 2008. Under his guideship five students have completed their Ph.D degree and three student are undergoing their research work. To his credit he has 52 publications in various national and International referred journals. He is contributing to various reputed journals as Reviewer.

Dr. S. Sathiyan has Professional Experience of 22 years as Clinical Physicist in Radiotherapy under various capacities. He received his Ph.D.  in Radiation  Physics in the year of 2008 and Joined our Institute in the year of 2003 as Assistant Professor of Radiation Physics.  He is a life member of various professional bodies like AMPI (Association of Medical Physicists of India) and UICC (Union for International Cancer Control). He has been awarded UICC fellowship on ‘Dosimetric and quality assurance aspects of volumetric intensity modulated radiotherapy’, during May, 2010, Scott &White Memorial Hospital, Temple, Texas,USA. He has attended ICTP-IAEA School on quality assurance in Radiotherapy, ICTP, Trieste, Italy. In his credit he has the 34 research publications of various national and International referred journals and presented 15 papers in National and International Conferences.  He is one of the external examiner for Manipal University, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, The TamilNadu MGR Medical University, Indira Gandhi National Open University, NIMHANS (Deemed University) Karnataka Paramedical Board.

He received his Ph.D.  in Radiation  Physics in the year of 2011 and Joined our Institute in the year of 2012 as Assistant Professor of Radiation Physics.  He is a life member of various professional bodies like AMPI (Association of Medical Physicists of India) , AAPM (American Association of Physicists in Medicine ) and UICC (Union for International Cancer Control). He has been awarded UICC- ICREET fellowship at CTRC, University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas, USA during July - August 2009 for the first time and the second one to Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada during March - April 2016.  He has also undergone 3 months ICTP-IAEA fellowship at University of Udine, Italy during April – July, 2010. In his credit he has the 20 research publications of various national and International referred journals and presented 16 papers in National and International Conferences. He has received Best Paper Award at AMPICON 2010, SGPGIMS, Lucknow. He also awarded “AMPI Dr. M. S. Agarwal Young Investigator Award for the year of 2013” at AMPICON2013 at Kolkata.
